Tees Valley Combined Authority Group’s South Tees Development Corporation Board is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual as its new Chair

The South Tees Development Corporation was established in 2017 following the closure of Redcar’s SSI Steelworks. It has been tasked with regenerating the some 4,500-acre area south of the River Tees – now branded as Teesworks – to transform it into a hotbed of clean energy, offshore and industrial activity. The site is the UK’s largest brownfield site and at the heart of the country’s biggest and most successful freeport, seeing multibillion-pound investment activity taking place right now.

The Chair will be responsible for the proper running of the STDC Board. They will guide and influence the Corporation at a strategic level providing confident, clear and consistent leadership. The Chair will work closely with and support the Tees Valley Mayor, the Chief Operating Officer, STDC Senior Leadership Team and private sector Joint Venture Partners. They will both support and challenge the Board to lead and develop the organisation to ensure they deliver the vision for the Teesworks site. They will be appointed by the Tees Valley Mayor.

We are looking for an individual with Board experience, strong stakeholder relationships, a proven track record of leadership and strong business and commercial experience.
