Teesworks Shortlisted For National Property Award

The giant Teesworks development has been shortlisted for a major national property award, recognising its pivotal role in transforming Teesside’s economic landscape.

The site has been named a finalist in the Commercial, Public – Private Partnership of the Year category at the Property Week Property Awards 2025 — a prestigious national event celebrating the UK’s leading real estate projects and partnerships.

The joint venture between Teesworks Ltd and the South Tees Development Corporation is being recognised for transforming 2,500 acres of industrial land into a global hub for green energy, advanced manufacturing and innovation.

So far, the partnership has already successfully secured over £500m in public investment and attracted nearly £5bn in private sector interest, with landmark developments including the £950m SeAH Wind offshore wind monopile manufacturing facility and the £4bn Net Zero Teesside carbon capture and storage project.

Teesworks is forecast to create up to 20,000 jobs, and has fast-tracked land remediation, planning and infrastructure to unlock development-ready sites at an unprecedented pace.

Teesworks Ltd chairman Chris Musgrave OBE said: “This recognition is a testament to the incredible progress we’ve made at Teesworks in just a few short years.

“We’re delivering on a scale and pace rarely seen in regeneration – from preparing land years ahead of schedule, to securing major global investments that are creating thousands of jobs.

“The regeneration of this site is not just about new industry it’s about bringing long-term prosperity back to a Teesside and restoring opportunities for local people.”

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This is further recognition of the scale and ambition of what we’re delivering at Teesworks.

“Our public-private partnership is transforming one of the UK’s biggest industrial sites into a magnet for world-leading industry and clean energy investment.

“We’ve already secured billions in investment, fast-tracked development, and paved the way for thousands of high-quality jobs — and we’re only just getting started. This highlights the national significance of our work and the huge long-term benefits it will bring to local people.”
