Coin to celebrate steelmaking heritage

For more than 170 years, the graft, innovation and steel of Teesside built structures and cities around the globe. But as the region sits on the cusp of a new clean energy and industrial revolution, Teesworks – the UK’s largest industrial zone which includes the site of the former Redcar steelworks – is paving the way for jobs, investment and opportunities the likes of which we’ve never seen.

This commemorative booklet features a timeline of the steel story of the site from the 1850s to now, with historic imagery from the archives and a nod to the future. You will also receive a special collector’s item – a unique coin that has been cast from the iron from the old steelworks site and made in Middlesbrough’s own foundry, William Lane Foundry.

Whether you want to take home a piece of our region’s cherished heritage, or are looking for a gift for a family member or someone with close links to the site, this celebratory showpiece will be perfect item to remember our history by.

Pre-orders can be placed now with an estimated 4-6-week delivery.

When making your purchase, all we ask is that you generously donate an amount to one of the two community groups we are supporting. Walk N Talk and Ladies of Steel operate within and support local people in the Teesside area.

Walk N Talk, Redcar

Walk N Talk was set up by former soldier Gareth Howell and has grown into a community where men aged 18 and over can get some exercise with organised walks where they can also talk about their mental health.

Ladies of Steel

Ladies of Steel is a voluntary community group which provides social, educational and sporting activities for children and the local community, also delivering much-needed resources during the pandemic and organising galas and events.
