Local people can now register for 20 senior construction roles being created to drive forward SeAH Wind’s £400million offshore wind facility at Teesworks.
The 1.13million sq ft factory will produce bases for offshore wind turbines, delivering up to 1,500 jobs in the supply chain and during construction, plus 750 direct jobs when fully operational.
The first post at the site, a HR Manager position, was advertised in May and now recruitment has ramped up as jobs with K2 Consultancy Ltd are set to be advertised across a host of disciplines – with posts such as Site Manager, Site Engineer and Construction Manager becoming available.
Teesworks Skills Academy can help local people get ahead of the curve in securing these jobs – and further roles set to be advertised soon – if they register their interest in these positions at the Teesworks Skills Academy website. Future roles include Administrators, Project Quantity Surveyor, Logistics Manager, Health and Safety Advisor and Health and Safety Manager, plus more.
The news comes just one day before the official ground breaking of the site (7 July) at Teesworks, the UK’s biggest industrial zone, and home to a park part of the Teesside Freeport; the biggest and first operational Freeport in the UK. It is the first scheme driven by private sector investment to begin construction at any UK Freeport and, when up and running, will be the biggest of its type in the world.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “When we announced the first SeAH Wind job back in May we knew the next wouldn’t be far behind. Now, on the eve of us getting spades in the ground, we can reveal the latest phase of recruitment with good-quality, well-paid jobs for local people – with many, many more to come.
“There are roles to suit a variety of skills and qualifications and, as work on the site ramps up in the coming months, the scale of opportunity will only grow.
“SeAH is committed to backing our brilliant supply chain businesses, helping them to go from strength to strength too. Hundreds have already heard about they can work with SeAH and this year’s Tees Valley Business Summit will be another chance for the South Korean firm to drive home its support for local, home-grown firms and expertise.
“If these jobs sound like they’re up your street, I’d urge you to apply – and I’d tell everyone else to keep their eyes peeled for further jobs over the next few weeks and months.”
Mary Lanigan, Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “These are the kind of real, high quality, long term jobs that our people richly deserve – and this is just the beginning. It’s another sign that all the years of work to release the potential of our world class industrial site at Teesworks are starting to come to fruition. Now we must continue to work to ensure more industry and good jobs come to our region for people now in the future.”
